Jim lived in Edmonds since his marriage to Susie in 1971. He attended Ingraham High – class of 1966.
Jim was born in Portland, Oregon, to Thelma and George Fegler. He moved to the Seattle area with his family when he was 12 years old. In his younger days, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and many trips to Reno and Vegas. Disneyland was a favorite of his, either with or without kids! He and Susie cruised to Alaska and twice to Puerto Vallarta.
Jim was manager at Universal Paper Goods Co., 1970-72. His father-in-law taught him to install garage doors and he was employed by Stanley Garage Door Co. in Kent. His in-laws began their own firm, Northend-Eastside Stanley Door Co., in 1977 in Seattle (It is now Anderson's Garage Door Co.).
He was manager from 1978-1994. In 1983, he was elected to the board of the Farwestern Garage Door Assoc. He later worked for Frank's Lumber in Shoreline and Washington Insulation in Woodinville.
In retirement, he enjoyed getting his granddaughter off to school and taking her to her athletic practices and games. He was a Husky football season ticket holder for 20 years.
He and his son attended the 1991 Rose Bowl, and this gave him an excuse to visit Disneyland again! One year, when a family trip was planned for Vegas, his teenage son needed him, but he insisted that his wife and daughter still make the trip.
When he took his children and granddaughter to Red Robin in Lynnwood for their birthday dinners, they would tell him not to let the waiter know it was their birthday.
But after dinner, a dessert would appear before the child, with loud singing. He beamed, and the child would have a little embarrassed smile and give him a "look." One Halloween, as he was greeting trick-or-treaters, he impulsively asked if anyone would like a dollhouse. A little girl shouted "yes!" and her mother carried it off.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, father, sister Lori Fegler, and brothers Barry and Randy Palumbo.
He is survived by his stepmom, Evelyn "Evie" Fegler, brothers Mark Fegler ( Vicki Calhoun), Gary Fegler. He leaves his son Brian Fegler (Mae Ashton and his newly acquired granddaughters Blake and Nevaeh) and daughter Brenda Fegler and granddaughter Mya Fegler and wife Susie.
Jim and his son were baptized on Christmas morning 1980 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church.
