Gus N. Cooper: 1930-2022

Gus N. Cooper was born to Nick and Alexandra Cooper in Seattle on March 14, 1930. Gus fell asleep in the Lord Dec. 31, 2022, completing a long life well lived.

Gus attended Lincoln High School, Puget Sound Naval Academy, and the University of Washington, and proudly served in the Marine Corps. He married the love of his life Margaret (Lawson) in August 1953; they shared an accomplished life together centered around family, friends, and the Greek Orthodox community.

In October 1953, Gus established Gus Cooper Services in Fremont, a respected family-owned and operated service station and towing business for 67 years.

Gus is preceded in death by Margaret (wife) and brother Paul Cooper (Maria). He is survived by his children: Nick (Karen), Marco (Lori), and Christina (Tim), Dino (Cynthia); 10 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; and godchildren Dino Christothoulou and Tina Velaoros.

Gus was the beloved patriarch of his large family and will be deeply missed. He enjoyed people, was warmly regarded in his large circle of friends, and made everyone feel welcome.

He enjoyed mentoring athletes and employees getting started in life. He had a good reputation in the automotive community and a loyal customer base.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan.11, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2100 Boyer Ave. E, Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Demetrios in memory of Gus Cooper.
