Find strategies that help, not harm

Dear Councilmember Chen:

I am dismayed by your authoritative tone. You are focused on so-called "enforcement tools," instead of people's lives and finding strategies that help, not harm.

I have 38 years of law enforcement experience, up to the rank of police chief, and no one is an expert in this complex and multifaceted challenge.

To say you "know exactly what tools the police need to keep our community safe" is offensive and simplistic, dismissive and insulting, and frankly, rhetoric.

Is this council really going to pass this off to the police as your...

I agree with all of these statements except the first one. That is just a blatant attempt to keep our council from passing our ordinance we all want or most including our Police department. Will Chen is trying to emphasize the danger around Lake Ballinger and 99 and the rest of the top hill. He is a good man and he cares.
