A rufous stopped by Henry Draper's home on Maplewood Drive to get some energy from a hummingbird feeder.

According to Draper, this handsome little bird tends to move through the Seattle area and Puget lowlands before heading for their preferred nesting habitat in the mountains.

Expect to see them for the next month at most.

There is still snow in the mountains, but it will go fast through April. A few hang around to nest locally, but the vast majority take a right turn and head up into the Cascades.

So maybe you'll be lucky and have a pair in your suburban habitat.
