Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission

The Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission creates a popular calendar on the city's history. The building in the foreground on this year's cover still exists, and is on the historic register. It is now occupied by McDonald McGarry Insurance, just west of the library on Main Street. Picture is circa 1907.

I am a member of the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission. I guess that means I am a commissioner.

I think most people think that the Edmonds Historic Preservation Commission and the Edmonds-South Snohomish County Historical Society are the same organization. We aren't.

The Historic Society, based in the museum on Fifth Avenue North, which was the Edmonds Carnegie Library, is dedicated to preserving all aspects of Edmonds history, including George Brackett and his oxen. It is a private, nonprofit organization.
