Emergency moratorium on building permits in portion of downtown

The Edmonds City Council on Tuesday passed a two-month emergency moratorium for the Downtown Mixed Commercial (BD2) zoning district relating to development regulations in the downtown BD2 zone. A public hearing is scheduled April 5.
According to a news release, the City said it has realized that there are gaps in its existing multifamily designs standards in the downtown BD2 zones that would inhibit positive design outcomes, such as neighborhood compatibility and green space amenities.
