2022 Edmonds budget: A plan to spend money

Finance director: Expect earlier deadline next year as well

The Edmonds City Council last week approved a $122.5 million budget for 2022. That said, the nuts and bolts of actually tackling this yearly task was so unlike anything residents who followed along have seen in recent years.

There was a finance director who pushed for a completed budget almost a month before last year's, in mid-December.

There was political maneuvering, all deemed legal by the city attorney. According to attorney Jeff Taraday, Council President Susan Paine legally continued the regularly scheduled Nov. 16 meeting to Nov. 17, instead of pushing it to Tuesday, Nov. 23, the n...

I suspect keeping the Restaurants and Alcohol a lot of it ha is a big part too. These are all taxed highly and so that is a lot of your sales tax. I mean the merchants mostly said their businesses were way down. SO where else would all of this Sales Tax come from? You tell me. I am learning and real fast...
