Teriyaki memories, samurai warriors | Sketching Edmonds

Every time I drive down Main Street past the little teriyaki restaurant next to the "Floatlines" mural, I have so many memories. My first experience with teriyaki was at Toshi Kasahara's original location in 1976, near the Seattle Center.

An old artist friend introduced me, and I became an instant fan. It was perfect for a young bachelor of limited means – a lot of food for very little money. Also, it tasted great.

Later on, I ended up doing signs for Toshi as he continued to open new stores all over the area. The pictures of food in the window remind me of restaurants in Chinatown in Sea...
