Council gives go-ahead to Civic Park

City councilmembers on Tuesday approved an $11.7 million contract with A-1 Landscaping and Construction of Snohomish for the renovation of Civic Park in Edmonds.

Councilmember Adrienne Fraley-Monillas, who last week questioned the need for the park, was absent. She had claimed that Civic Park is a social equity and equality issue, noting that more people of color live in the Highway 99 area and deserve a park.

The City estimates the total cost for project construction will fall between $13.5 million and $15 million, depending on alternates selected. It...
