Finally, the masks are coming off. Kids are returning to the classroom. Loved ones are getting together again. Life, ever so slowly, is returning to normal.
So ... Let's eat!
With summer on the horizon, and socializing (at least for the vaccinated) approved, nothing says normal like good food with family and friends.
The Beacon is asking readers and restaurateurs to share favorite recipes for publication. The caring act of preparing a meal and sharing it creates a sense of security and calm following a year of insecurity and chaos.
Nearly everyone has a recipe or two they have inherited or invented that others have praised. "That was delicious! Can I have the recipe?" is the ultimate compliment.
The Beacon invites you to send us those recipes for a new, regular feature, Let's Cook! Only send recipes that are yours, which you have tested at home and shared with your people. Yes, we will take recipes from caterers and restaurants.
The goal is to help small communities bond, and remember that no matter our differences, we can always find a way to unify. Food and the memories around food can help people feel settled and grounded.
Send your recipes to [email protected] or mail them to The Beacon, 728 3rd St., Suite D, Mukilteo, WA 98275.
Note: By submitting material for publication, you grant Beacon Publishing, Inc., its subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and licensees unrestricted use of the material, including your name, hometown and state, and affirm that the recipe is original to you. We reserve the right to modify, reproduce and distribute the material in any medium and in any manner.
