The worldwide pandemic has changed the way we celebrate milestones. Another example: Marking a 100th birthday.
On Sunday, Dec. 29, family and friends honored Hazel Bell Madden Sherwood in the parking lot of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on 228th Street SW. Well-wishers passed Hazel, sitting in her easy chair – her "throne" – while sharing memories and virtual hugs in advance of her actual birthday, Dec. 2.
They shared something sweet, too. Each car received Hershey bars.
