Summer weather: Heat, lightning, thunder

The sun sets over the Olympics, as viewed from Sunset and Bell in Edmonds.

So, it was an interesting Sunday night in Edmonds.

The hottest day of the year (93-98 degrees) led to puffy early evening clouds bumping against a blue sky that suddenly turned white.

Then came the brilliant sunset, followed by lightning flashes and a few distant thunderclaps – and at least one that sent cats and dogs scurrying.

Meanwhile, Monday looks gorgeous so far.
