High school football moves to spring as part of changes in prep sports calendar

The governing body for high school sports in Washington has called an audible.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) announced on Tuesday several major changes to the 2020-21 sports season calendar due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The biggest is shifting football from the fall to the spring. Girls soccer and volleyball also will be played during the third of four newly created seasons.
Season 3 would start Feb. 22 for football and March 1 for the other sports.
