Officer Shoemake an asset to the community
I am writing to express my gratitude for Officer Tabatha Shoemake's willingness to be interviewed for the Edmonds Beacon ("Being a Black woman – and a cop – in Edmonds," July 2). Her responses were thoughtful, respectful, and dignified.
It turned my stomach to read her neighbor's comment when she and her daughter moved into their Edmonds home. I was heartened that another neighbor stepped up and said, "That's not going to be tolerated."
I also appreciated her story about Sgt. Bob Barker. What a great role model he was for her.
