Have you visited Ferguson County lately? Maybe you just drove through and didn’t stop. Maybe the name just doesn’t sound familiar. That’s OK. Few people can rattle off the names of all 39 Washington counties.
There hasn’t been a new county created in Washington since 1911. Only three were created in all of the 20th century. The entire history of counties created and divided is fascinating, and some of the results may leave you scratching your head.
