Relief in sight for Edmonds' flooding problem

New water pump will help, City says

The pump is on Dayton Street between Admiral Way and Railroad Avenue. It will pump water pooled to the east and force it west into Puget Sound.

Flooding on and around Dayton Street and SR 104 in Edmonds has been a problem in the past for businesses and commuters, but a new pump has potential to eliminate those problems, said Public Works and Utilities Director Phil Williams.

The days of driving through foot-deep water for residents are likely numbered, as construction is planned to be finished in May.

"All the heavy work will be up front," Stormwater Engineer Zachary Richardson said. "Once we get the stuff in the ground, there will be a lot of cleaning up and programming and doing stuff that's not real destructive. So we hope to be...
