Anne Johnson, a former police clerk for the Edmonds Police Department, has been awarded a monetary settlement from the City, culminating a four-year-old case stemming from her claim that the department refused to accommodate her disability.
Johnson had asked that the police clerk’s office be made a fragrance-free zone to allow her to work there without the migraine headaches she suffered when exposed to heavy fragrances and odors.
But as the trial approached, the City on Dec. 13 decided to settle by paying $510,000 in damages and attorney fees.
