Lions Club marks 30 years of patriotism along city streets

Of the 334 American flags placed around Edmonds Monday, Jan. 20, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, all included 50 stars for 50 states.
But the stars were not all aligned, you could say, 30 years ago when Edmonds Lions Club members planted the flags in downtown Edmonds, Westgate, Highway 99, Perrinville and other parts of town.
Lions Club member Bobby Mills had received approval from then-Mayor Larry Naughten to drill holes along city streets to place the flags in on certain holidays, including Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, July 4, Labor Day, Columbus Day, General Election D...
