In a sloppy and penalty-plagued game, Meadowdale needed its special teams to execute perfectly in order to pull out a victory.
Junior Cole Sargent and the Mavericks' field goal unit met the challenge.
Sargent kicked a 22-yard field goal with 54 seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift Meadowdale to a 17-14 victory over district rival Lynnwood in a Wesco 3A South football game Saturday, Sept. 21, at Edmonds Stadium.
It was the biggest moment of Sargent's two-year high school career as a kicker and one he'll remember for a long, long time.
