Our Mother passed away peacefully January 21, 2019, after a brief stay at Swedish Hospital in Edmonds. She was born in Arlington, SD, on September 19, 1931.

She grew up in Alderwood Manor and graduated from Edmonds High School in 1949. She married Willard A. Kunz in 1951 and had three children. They raised their family in Edmonds.

Barbara worked at home as a seamstress, at Grocery Boys in Lynnwood and at the QFC contract postal station in Shoreline. She also enjoyed art, calligraphy, gardening, travel, family and friends.

She was called Nanny by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After 44 years of marriage, her husband passed. The following year she met her former classmate, James B. Peterson, at a high school reunion. They fell in love and spent the next 23 years living their golden years in Edmonds and Surprise, AZ.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Adrian and Margareth Larson, siblings Edith Hooban, Delores Carlson, Pat Gallivan, Addie Keep, Curt Larson, and Rosalie Weber.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of Manor Care, Aegis Living of Lynnwood, Chateau Pacific of Lynnwood, Evergreen Hospice & Home Services and Swedish Hospital Edmonds for the loving care they provided.

She is survived by her partner James B. Peterson; children Nicholas W. Kunz (Kang), Mark A. Kunz (Luanne) and Theresa L. Wade (Michael); her grandchildren Elizabeth J. Kunz, Janelle A. Finlon (Jim), Amy E. Welch, Michael B. Dizon, Adriann Weymouth (Nick) and Taylor Wade (Chantal); and her 11 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life, Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11:30 a.m.at Beck's Tribute Center 405 Fifth Ave S, Edmonds, WA 98020, where we will meet, eat and share stories of Barbara's life.
