Memorial Day: Local residents who gave all


Members of the Armed Forces who died in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, as well as one killed on Sept. 11, were honored Monday during the Memorial Day ceremony at the Edmonds Cemetery. Here are five with local ties.

• Army Sgt. Maj. Larry Strickland, 52, died in the terrorist attack on the Pentagon Sept. 11, 2001. Strickland, who was at his desk during the attack, graduated from Edmonds High School in 1967. He lived in Washington, D.C., and is buried at Arlington National Ceremony in Virginia.
