Anesthesia-free dental cleaning is dangerous!

Last updated 3/15/2018 at Noon

Because most of our patients do not receive daily preventive homecare, the most important goal of a pet dental procedure is to evaluate and treat the dental disease that has accumulated in the absence of brushing.

Most of the patients we evaluate have dental problems requiring surgical treatment, which would not have been detected in an awake exam. Anesthesia is extremely safe when performed by skilled practitioners, even in older patients.

During every dental procedure, we evaluate for painful occlusion (bite), damaged teeth, periodontal disease, cavities, and more. Providing anesthesia-free dental cleanings leaves patients with undiagnosed and untreated disease and discomfort.
