39-year-old pier gets $1.4M renovation

A $1.4 million renovation of the Edmonds Pier will begin on March 14 with the first major structural improvements being done since its construction 39 years ago.
“The main thrust of it is concrete repairs,” City of Edmonds Engineer Henry Schroder said. “People will look at the deck of the pier and think, ‘Well, it’s not in bad shape,’ but it’s mainly on the edges and underneath that are the problem areas that need to be taken care of.”
The pier will be closed through June for repairs to the concrete support structures between the deck and the pilings.
