An article in a 1994 February edition of the Edmonds Paper, the predecessor to the Edmonds Beacon, opened like this:
“The newly formed Edmonds Sea Explorer unit of the Boy Scouts has been called fun, challenging, worthwhile, exciting and civic-minded.”
But it never would have happened if not for the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cannon of Edmonds.
The Cannons donated their 24-foot San Juan sailboat, Zee Boli, to the Mt. Baker Council of Boy Scoouts of America with the stipulation that it be used to start a Sea Explorer unit based at the Port of Edmonds.
