James Sam Linton, age 87, born in 1936 in Seattle to Mary and Allen Linton, passed away peacefully in Puyallup Friday, January 12, 2024.
Jim attended Lincoln High School in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1957. After graduating, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where as Captain James Linton he met and married Alice Dobie in 1961.
Jim and Alice moved to Edmonds, where they had two daughters, Suzy and Sherri, raised their family, and enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
Jim and Alice enjoyed traveling, camping, backpacking, and spending time with friends and family. Jim and Alice were avid Husky fans, spending many weekends on the Montlake Cut watching crew races. They were also Husky football season ticket holders for 50-plus years.
Jim was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Allen E. Linton, and his wife, Alice.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Linton (Marlene); and his daughters, Suzanne Doyle (John) and Sherri Linton (Tyler Huff).
He is also survived by five grandchildren who knew and loved him as Papa. He adored Joseph, Ian, and Sam Doyle, Emily and Elle Holzman, and great grandson Liam Doyle.
As per Jim’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. In lieu of funeral services please raise a glass to life.
