Carol Lynn Stollwerck, 81, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 31, 2023, in Providence Regional Medical Center, Everett. She was born on Jan. 14, 1942, in Seattle – the daughter of Joseph M. Sund and Elsie Marie (Peterson) Sund.
Carol graduated from Queen Anne High School, Seattle, Class of 1960. Carol over the years loved her Queen Anne luncheons with her close classmates at Stanford's restaurant in Northgate. Carol went on to the University of Washington, Seattle, graduating in the class of 1964. During most of her early schooling years, Carol also worked part-time for the Nordstrom Company, at its original Nordstrom store on the corner of Fifth and Pike. Carol then worked two summers (64-65) at the New York World's Fair-New York City for the Ford Motor Company, giving VIP tours at the Ford Pavilion.
Carol met Peter D. Stollwerck, working at Nordstrom's, and married shortly thereafter, on June 14, 1968, at Magnolia Lutheran Church in Seattle. They celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 14, 2023, and lived in Mukilteo since 1986.
Carol then became an elementary teacher for the next 28 years – first, for Seattle School District, and finished up in Mukilteo for 20 years with Mukilteo School District's Serene Lake Elementary in 2007. It should be highlighted: Carol was "admired and loved" by her fellow teaching peers, school staff, her students, and their parents.
In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her sister Joanne M. Hoelzl. Surviving her is her husband Pete, brother Gary M. (Vinda) Sund of Redmond. Also surviving her are her "Two greatest joys in life," her children Jeffrey "JD" D. (Christina) Stollwerck of Mukilteo and Jennifer M. Stollwerck of Mukilteo, both successful in their own lives and careers.
Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Bethany-Pacific. At Carol's request, there will be no memorial service. In closing: A life well-lived is simply this ... one that adds to the Beauty, the Goodness, and the Love in this world – "Carol will be warmly remembered by so many!"
