Spark Creativity’s annual fundraiser is April 23 from 5-9 p.m. at the Edmonds Yacht Club. According to a news release, it brings together local families, educators, artists, and community supporters to celebrate and expand access to arts education in Edmonds-area schools.
This year, Spark has expanded into four additional Title I schools in the Edmonds School District and is now reaching nearly 1,000 students. There are also additional schools requesting programming, and funds raised at this event will help meet that growing demand, said founder Tanya Sharp.
There will be silent and live auctions, including a sculpture donated by the Michelangelo Foundation; a Gibson guitar from the Gibson Foundation; a raffle featuring jewelry from gorjana, along with a facial and Eminence skincare products from Ombu Salon; dining from Fire & the Feast and Epulo Bistro; theater tickets from Edmonds Center for the Arts and Driftwood Players; a dessert dash with desserts created by a Spark teaching artist; a raise-the-paddle fundraiser supporting arts programming for students; live jazz performance by the Mountlake Terrace High School Jazz Group; and dinner and cocktail hour with local partners
The program will also feature testimonials from classroom teachers, including educators from Oak Heights Elementary, one of the newer schools participating in Spark programming. Teaching artists will speak about their work in classrooms.
Spark partners with public schools to bring professional teaching artists into K–8 classrooms. Students participate in hands-on lessons in drawing, painting, collage, and ceramics.
An online auction is open through April 23.
