Sonny Hancock: 1930-2025

Sonny Hancock, age 95 of Arch Cape, Oregon, died, in his sleep December 24, 2025. He was born August 5, 1930, to Theo James and Fae Hancock in Vetal, South Dakota.

Sonny served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hollister during the Korean War and followed with four years in the U.S. Air Force. He married MariLynn Mitchell October 10, 1958, and had four daughters, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He worked for and retired from the Seattle Police Department (26 years) and Doc Freemans Marine Supply and Repair.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Nola Yorker, of Arch Cape; daughters Marifae Clark and son-in-law Tabb of Snohomish; Noreen Cloft and son-in-law Gerry of Lake Forest Park; Janis Arnold and son-in-law Arn of Dayton, Ohio; Sara Bailey and her partner Rogers of Seattle; Tracey Yorker of Seattle; Kris Yorker of Seattle; granddaughter Elizabeth Flath and grandson-in-law Nathan of Snohomish; grandson Christopher Bailey and fiancé Neil of Seattle; and two great grandchildren, Ellie Flath and James Flath of Snohomish.

He was preceded in death by his wife, MariLynn Hancock. Memorial services will be March 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 760 Aloha Street, Edmonds. Reception follows.
