Sharon Boyce Ballough – mother, grandmother, teacher and gardener – passed away on August 5th at the age of 87.
Sharon was a second grade teacher when she met her husband, Ron Ballough, at Maple Leaf Baptist Church in 1961. After they married in 1962, Sharon raised their two daughters, and when they were grown, she leveraged her teaching credentials to tutor high school students.
Sharon liked to travel; she visited family in England and Italy, toured France, and even visited southern Mexico and Ethiopia through her favorite charity, Compassion International.
After Ron’s passing in 2011, Sharon moved to CRISTA Senior Living, where she enjoyed gardening, long walks, and music. She was active in choir and leaves a gap in the alto section in addition to the gap in the hearts of her family and friends.
Sharon is survived by her two daughters, Elizabeth and Rebecca; her three grandchildren, Madeline, Megan and Peyton; and two of her younger siblings, Caron and Layne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Compassion International.
