Michael “Mike” Lacy, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A man of deep warmth, ready laughter, and restless curiosity, Mike lived his life as though every day held an adventure worth finding – because to him, it did.
Mike spent his career in aerospace and his free time in the wild places that fed his soul: the Pacific Coast of Washington, the Olympic Peninsula, the Queets River corridor, and the red rock country of the American Southwest – Zion, Moab, and Arches among his beloved destinations.
He was an avid hiker, rockhound, reader, and devoted Grateful Dead fan whose favorite song, “Ripple,” was less a piece of music to him than a philosophy of life.
In his later years, Mike returned to the Catholic faith, a journey that became a source of great comfort, community, and closeness with his wife, Linda. Through five years of serious illness – kidney failure, cancer, heart problems, and amputations – he faced every challenge with characteristic humor and fight, never losing the spirit that made him who he was.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Lacy; daughter Heather Goring and her husband Sanjay Rajashekar; son Tom Lacy and his wife Sarah Lacy; son David Lacy; grandchildren, Tom Jr., Addie, Sanjana, John, Stephen, and Mary; and brothers Stephen and Mark Lacy. He was a faithful friend, a generous neighbor, loving husband, father and grandfather whose presence filled every room he entered.
He had adventures left undone, and a heart that never stopped reaching for them.
