Every dog has its day. Yours could be next Saturday.
Dogs of every breed, age and personality will have a chance to compete for bragging rights when the fourth annual Great Mukilteo Dog Show returns to Lighthouse Park on Saturday, July 11.
The community event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with participant check-in beginning at 10 a.m. Organizers describe the show as a fun, informal celebration of local dogs while raising money for animal welfare organizations.
Registration is $10 per dog, with proceeds benefiting PAWS and other local animal rescue organizations. Each household may enter up to two competition categories.
All registered participants will receive a doggie swag bag, while category winners will earn prizes. One dog also will be named Best in Show. Local vendors will be on hand throughout the event.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a can or bag of dog food or treats for donation to PAWS and the Mukilteo Food Bank.
The show features 16 lighthearted competition categories, including Best Smile, Best Tail, Best Ears, Best Legs, Cutest Eyes, Cutest Puppy, Cutest Senior, Best Mutt, Best Trick, Fluffiest, Best Wiggles, Best Grooming or Haircut, Best Owner-Dog Lookalike, Most Slobbery, A Face Only a Mother Could Love and Best Outfit.
The event is designed to showcase everything from athletic tricks and stylish grooming to expressive smiles, floppy ears and enthusiastic tail wags.
Organizers encourage Mukilteo-area dog owners to register in advance and invite the community to come cheer on the contestants while supporting local animal rescue efforts.
