Glen Petersen: 1934-2026

Posted

Glen Petersen was born March 27, 1934, to Odin and Esther Petersen. He was an only child growing up in Los Angeles. He graduated from Dorsey High School in 1952, then attended George Pepperdine College, graduating in 1956 with a BS in Business Administration.

He served in the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Commander. He was proud to have completed his Coast Guard career as commanding officer of a Reserve unit. Glen's civilian career included 18 years at General Telephone and Electronics Corporation and 12 years at Digital Equipment Corporation.

Glen married Darlene Wade in 1961. They were married for 48 years. In 2015, Glen married Kay Carmean. Glen and Kay became "snowbirds," living in Tucson, Arizona, for several years. Glen loved the sunshine and warmth of Arizona, and became involved in men's Bible study and choir at the community church there.

Glen had a strong spiritual life, loving the Lord his God. He received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at age nine. He held various leadership roles in the church, teaching Sunday School, Bible studies, and serving as deacon through the years. His life Bible verse was 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind."

Glen loved old cars, hats, and was an avid lover of music, blues, Southern Gospel quartets, George Strait, and Willy Nelson! He never forgot a joke, and always had one to share with people. He was a kind, good man who loved his family and was grateful for the time God gave him on this earth. He will be missed.

Glen is survived by his wife, Kay, and his sons Eric (Janet); Kurt and Jon (Tiffany); and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at North Sound Church, Edmonds, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m.
