Candidates are set for August primary

The stage is set for Aug. 5 primary as the filing period to run for election this year is set in Edmonds and south Snohomish County.

Two City Council seats are already set. Glena Krull and incumbent Chris Eck will move on to the general election Nov. 4 for Position 1, as the top two finishers automatically advance. Also moving on are challenger Jessica Bachmann and incumbent Will Chen for Position 2.

There is some competition for Council President Neil Tibbott’s Position 3, as he has decided not to run for reeclection. Erika Barnett, Joseph Ademofe, and Alex Newman will learn who the top two finishers are after the primary.

Here are the candidates that those living in Edmonds city limits can vote for, except the Port of Edmonds, which has a smaller footprint.

Edmonds Municipal Court Judge: Neil Weiss (incumbent)

Town of Woodway Mayor: Mike Quinn  (incumbent)

Port of Edmonds Commissioner, District 1: Janelle Cass (incumbent), Chelsea Rudd

Port of Edmonds Commissioner, District 3: Jay Grant (incumbent)

Port of Edmonds Commissioner, District 5, at-large: Ross Dimmick  (incumbent), Jaimie Gouge

South Snohomish County Fire Authority Commissioner District 1: Michael Chinn, Harmony Crawford, Joseph Wankelman

South Snohomish County Fire Authority Commissioner District 3: Mark Laurene

South Snohomish County Fire Authority Commissioner District 5: Jim Kenny (incumbent, Zoe Pilgrim-Placey)

Snohomish County Hospital District 2 (Verdant): Bob Knowles (incumbent)

Edmonds School District Board of Directors:, District 2: Keith Smith (incumbent)

Edmonds School District Board of Directors:, District 4: Thomas Garrard (incumbent), Jason Moore

County Council District 3, Charter Review Commissioner: Alicia Crank, Colin McMahon, Mpilma, Mugambe, Carol McMahon, Kathy Gill, Aurora Lehr, Nathan Sugg, David Preston, Janelle Cass.
