A book its author says is a “love letter to Edmonds” will be celebrated at two upcoming book signings in town.
Molly Machado, born and raised in Edmonds and now settled in Bothell, has released her latest contemporary romance novel, “Our Hometown and the Lies We Told Ourselves,” on her own imprint.
The first signing is 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Salish Sea Brewing Boathouse Taproom at Harbor Square. An author Q&A will be followed by live music at 7 by her brother and local musician, Ryan Smith Music, who has performed at Porchfest Edmonds.
The second signing, Q&A, and performance from Ryan Smith Music is 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at A Very Taki Tiki Bar & Grill on Main Street.
“Our Hometown and the Lies We Told Ourselves” is a small-town romantic suspense novel set – you guessed it – in Edmonds. From the author:
She came home to bury her estranged father and renovate her childhood home – not relive her worst heartbreak, face the secrets of her past, and dodge an elusive stalker.
Ten years after leaving her hometown and the ex who shattered her heart, Lucy James is back in the waterfront city of Edmonds. Her mission? Support her quick-witted siblings and flip their childhood home – a project she hopes will propel her solo career as an interior designer and help her break free from her boss, who intentionally keeps her stuck with an assistant title.
But the best contractor in town? None other than Nicolás Mendez her ex and the last person she wants to spend all of October, November, and December in close quarters with. And as if returning to a home filled with grief and difficult childhood memories isn’t bad enough, she must also deal with mysterious, escalating break-in attempts and threatening messages at the house.
Books will be available for purchase at the events and are available at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park and Barnes and Noble Alderwood. It’s also available on Amazon and Goodreads.
