Harry Rudolph Hedlund Jr.: 1935-2022

Posted

Heaven welcomed Harry Rudolph Hedlund Jr. (a.k.a. Dad), 87 years old, on Nov. 7, 2022. Dad had valiantly battled cancer for quite some time.

He was born in Seattle to Harry Rudolph Hedlund Sr. and Dorothy Hedlund (Furst) on May 20, 1935. He was the first-born of four children. His sisters are Karen Burkebile (Dave), Janis Olsen (Melvin), and Sandra Hedlund.

Dad was raised in Edmonds, graduating from Edmonds High School. He was a leader in Future Farmers of America and he also started a car club called Scanners. He loved cars and had some that he wishes he had kept, such as a 1953 Ford convertible with a Continental Kit on the back.

He also enjoyed riding his motorcycles, with his last one being a beautiful Harley Davidson.

He is survived by his three daughters, Terri McFadden, Gerri Hedlund, and Diana Owens, and their mother, Jacqueline Farra. He leaves behind three granddaughters, Nina Hogan, Jamie Hedlund, and Marissa McFadden, and one grandson, Mitchell McFadden.

He also leaves behind nieces Cindy Satero and Sunny Olsen; nephews Kevin, Jeff, and Chris Burkebile; seven great-grandchildren; six great-nieces; two great-nephews; and one great-great nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Sr. and Dorothy Hedlund.

He was a great man, a wonderful father, and a gentleman to the end. He will be forever remembered as "Boy Kid."

Dad's celebration of life will be held on what would have been his 88th birthday, May 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Port Angeles, where he spent many happy hours hanging out with friends.
