Laurie's tree, and helping the community

Laurie Barrow's efforts have led to thousands of pounds of food and funds for the Edmonds Food Bank.

It began with a tree.

This particular tree, in Laurie Barrow's front yard, inspired 200 homes in a single neighborhood to donate thousands of pounds of food and thousands of dollars to the Edmonds Food Bank during COVID.

In truth, it is an exceptionally pretty tree, this weeping cherry tree. It's a delight to the eyes of all who notice it as they pass by.

This tree began to grow beyond its simple natural beauty to become a beacon of inspiration to its neighbors in 2000 when Laurie Barrow and her two daughters, both under age 10, moved into the house where that tree is.
