Gordon P. Gregg, 63, died peacefully March 11 at Midland Hospice in Topeka, Kansas, after a long struggle with melanoma. Gordy lived most of his adult life in the Seattle area, retiring in 2020 to his hometown of Topeka.
In Seattle, Gordy ran a successful home remodeling and construction company, City Builders of Lynnwood. He was active in the national Master Builders Association, which honored him in 2001 with its Exceptional Service award.
In 2005, Remodeling named him a Top 50 Market Wise winner. Gordy became an early adopter of green building practices – and of housing adaptations for older or disabled homeowners. A creative builder and resourceful problem-solver, Gordy helped generations of Seattle residents improve and expand their homes.
Gordy was a voracious reader; loved his Harley and motorcycle adventures with friends; was a certified diver and a skilled woodworker; and jammed on his blues harmonica with various jazz groups.
Friends will remember his mischievous smile and passion for jokes – and his delight in spinning a good yarn. Gordy lost his beloved wife, Karin, in 2015. His son, Tanner, died in 2019.
Gordy is survived by sons Michael (of Washington) and Cameron (of California); grandchildren Kya, Ryker and Romy; sisters Judy Peters and Gail Gregg; brothers Tyler Gregg and Andrew Gregg; sisters-in-law Marianela Bolanos Gregg and Meg Gregg; and three nephews and a niece.
Gordy's parents were Ann and Tom Gregg, longtime residents of Topeka. And he leaves behind countless friends, colleagues, and clients who will miss his infectious energy and enthusiasm for life.
