Carole Murphy 1939-2022

Posted

Carole Joy Murphy, known to many as "Jody," passed peacefully on Jan. 14, 2022, surrounded by family at the age of 82.

Born on June 6, 1939, in Bothell, Washington, Carole was raised by her loving parents, Robert R. and Florence M. (Hann) Jackson. Carole's early years were spent in the North Seattle area, attending Christ the King Elementary school and graduating from Holy Names Academy with the class of 1957.

Carole often worked with her father (a druggist) at Bartell pharmacy, and after graduating high school she trained and acquired a position as a Comptometer Operator and Office Assistant with A&P Super Market.

In 1959, Carole married James "Jim" H. Murphy. Jim was the older brother of her best friend, Gerry Ellen. Carole and Gerry raised their families side by side, to the tune of five children each. They often joked fondly about having enough children for a basketball team. Carole managed the family for many years while she enjoyed singing in church choir, bowling, traveling, camping, playing cards, volunteering at the school, and researching her family history.

As her children grew more independent, Carole took a driving position with the Edmonds School District. Driving was her passion, and she had plenty of experience with children. All enjoyed many great stories of delivering the kids to and from school.

With her outgoing personality, she has acquired many wonderful friendships. Carole retired in 2004 after 23 years of service with a perfect safety record.

Retirement for Carole was a joyous time of travel, family fun, and quiet moments at home with her sweetheart, Gayle. They planned and went on many adventures in her motorhome. They loved each other, the open road, and meeting new people along the way.

Carole was full of joy and warmth, had a fantastic sense of humor, and wore a gorgeous smile that could light up any room. She loved her family dearly. To the many nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws, et al. – she was always thinking of you with love, laughter, and fond memories.
