Mayor: Focus is on Highway 99 in '22

The reimagining of Highway 99 in Edmonds takes shape this year.

The emphasis is on Highway 99 for 2022. That came through loud and clear Jan. 20 when Mayor Mike Nelson – now in the third year of a four-year term – made his second State of the City address.

In an online presentation, Nelson emphasized that a fully funded $10 million project along Highway 99 from 244th Street SW to 212th Street SW, a 2¼-mile corridor with collision rates ranked as one of the highest in the state for similar state routes, is expected to be completed this year.
