Philadelphia Press Auto Relay Race: Changing cars and couriers in Easton, Wash.

The greatest pleasure in digging up buried history is that you never know what you're going to get. Because you don't what, if anything, is buried. It's a bit like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates.

Case in point: Dan Plouse is one of seven folks trying to form a new historical society in Easton, Wash. Like most people, I have zipped past Easton – in my case for three-quarters of a century – without stopping.

For the last 40 years, I have bypassed Easton on I-90 without stopping, or considering what might be there.
