Beckett Joseph Smith, born Aug. 26, 1999, in Kennewick, Wash., went to Our Lord far too soon on Nov.15, 2021, at Trios Southridge Hospital in Kennewick.
Beckett spent most of his life in Edmonds, where he enjoyed arts and music, having performed lead theatrical roles as “The Candyman,” “Mowgli,” “Aladdin,” and “Bill on Capitol Hill.”
He blessed many with his angelic voice, performing the “Pie Jesu” at Christmas for several Catholic services with his father, Jeffrey Smith, around Seattle. His artwork was displayed at the Edmonds Arts Festival.
Beckett was blessed to participate in various jazz venues, skiing on scholarship with a team of instructors, piano lessons, baseball and football, and he loved all the people he encountered. He was baptized at and attended North Sound Church where he sang with the coveted North Sound Church Choir and at various services and functions under Conductor Alan Skoog.
He moved to the Tri-Cities in 2013 and attended Kamiakin High School, where he played football and tennis; attended New Vintage and Hillspring churches; and sang as a freshman with Scott Wagnon’s Senior Specialty Choir at Kamiakin.
Beckett is survived by his mother, Vickie Lynn Fisher, of Richland; his sister Krystina Irene Upchurch of Sandy, Utah; and brother Ryan Andrew Burley in Happy Valley, Ore. He’s also survived by many wonderful adoring aunts, uncles and cousins in Washington; Walnut Grove, Minn; and the East Coast.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Hillspring Church, 1153 Gage Blvd. in Richland.
