Council will consider resolution supported ranked-choice voting

Edmonds City Councilmembers next month will consider passing a resolution supporting the local option to adopt ranked-choice voting, which could eliminate August primary elections.

What is ranked-choice voting?

The City currently uses the top-two primary system in elections. With ranked‐choice voting, instead of choosing just one candidate to support in each race, a voter ranks the candidates running in the order of that voter’s preference – for example, first, second, and third choices.
