Mango custard buns are among the offerings at 85 Degrees Bakery.

My mom heard about the 85º Bakery in Edmonds and asked if I had ever been there. Oh yes, I replied, but just as quickly responded that it had been too long.

We stopped in for breakfast recently, and it was as tempting as always. Where else can you wander row after row of fresh baked pastries and breads that run the gamut of flavors and fruits and fillings?

The three of us shared a few different buns (mango, elote – a unique take on the Mexican favorite, milk), and I did not share a potato croquette (a bun stuffed with mashed potatoes: mmmm).

We each tried a different coffee, since 85º offers a variety of specialty drinks, and the salted caramel hit the spot. We also picked up a half loaf of their plain white bread, which I had never tried before, and it is nothing short of perfect white bread – square, soft, crust that toasts just right for breakfast the next day.

I'll be back to the 85º Bakery soon.
