Will Chen pulls ahead of Janelle Cass

Winner will assume Position 2 on Edmonds City Council

Will Chen speaks at the 9/11 ceremony this year in Edmonds.

After trailing Janelle Cass in the first counts in the 2021 general election, Will Chen is now finds himself in the lead.

After Friday's count, Chen had 7,739 votes, or 50.34% of the total. Cass tallied 7,614, or 49.53%. The next count will be released Monday, Nov. 8.

Both Chen and Cass are first-time candidates looking to take Position 2 on Edmonds City Council. The position became open after Luke Distelhorst, appointed in January 2020, finished third in the primary.

Two other council races remain the same.
