What happened to the giant armadillo?

Five mass extinctions have dramatically changed the face of life on earth. They have collapsed biodiversity and created conditions where new species have evolved and dominated. We are in the sixth now.
The biggest of these events was the Permian–Triassic event, where 70% of terrestrial vertebrates and 80% of all marine species died. This was caused by repeated volcanic eruptions of the Siberian Traps, impacting a wide area of Russia.
Hydrocarbon deposits in the Traps burned during the eruptions. This increased greenhouse gases, which in turn caused things like elevated global temperature...
