Progress: Work begins on new 'Welcome to Downtown Edmonds' sign

A year ago, The Beacon asked the City for a comment on progress of the new "Welcome to Downtown Edmonds" sign on SR 104 leading into Fifth Avenue South.
Because of decreased staffing levels due to COVID, as well as a hiring freeze, installation had to be postponed, said Parks and Recreation Director Angie Feser.
COVID's still here, but the sign is now going in.
"I am delighted to report that the SR 104 gateway sign has started," Feser said Tuesday, Sept. 21.
"There are several phases, including creating another level area for the new sign, disassembly of the current landscaped area to reuse...
