Editor's note: As The Beacon reported Aug. 19 ("Edmonds Bookshop sold to longtime assistant manager Michelle Bear," Aug. 19), Mary Kay Sneeringer and David Brewster have sold their bookstore after 20 years.

Edmonds resident and longtime City Council member Diane Buckshnis recalls how the owners helped her and the community at large with their good works.

I first met Mary Kay Sneeringer through Rotary, as she would come around Christmas and give us good book ideas. Then I would buy a bunch of books and not see her for a year other than to see her busy in the community and her store, and eve...
