Mask up! Senior living homes still playing it safe

Although the county has reinstated the mask mandate for everyone, masks in long-term care never came down

The other day at City Park, you might have noticed a group of seniors enjoying a picnic and the spray park. Or maybe you spotted the orange-and-white bus parked nearby.

Last summer, this scene could only exist in the imaginations and memories of past summers for residents of Sunrise of Edmonds senior living home.

Early this year, however, long-term care facilities throughout the state experienced a sharp drop in COVID cases, thanks to high vaccination rates for residents and staff. In the months that followed, senior living homes finally saw the long-awaited return to indoor family visits...
