I headed for the river last week, as the river never disappoints. A summer that’s passed without at least a quick trip south to the Columbia is a summer wasted, and it turns out I’ve had enough of those.
The Columbia River is the defining feature of our region in many important ways, and it’s always astonished me. As has the Columbia River Gorge, carved and deepened by the water as the Cascades were being born, five million years ago.
