Heads up, Esperance: Fireworks now banned

Every year, residents of the slice of real estate surrounded by the city of Edmonds – Esperance – have been allowed to light fireworks on July 4 for three hours only, 9 p.m. to midnight.

No more.

This year, Esperance residents, who have an Edmonds mailing address but are part of Snohomish County's jurisdiction, can no longer fire up those firecrackers, smoke bombs, ground spinners or anything else that lights up the night on Independence Day.

The Snohomish County Council unanimously approved the ban after voters weighed in on the issue in a 2019 advisory vote.
